Cisco Systems announced today it will start selling a router that will accelerate the speed of data and video downloads on the Internet. The new product triples the capacity of its predecessor with up to 322 terabits per second, enabling “every man, woman and child in China to make a video call, simultaneously and every motion picture ever created to be streamed in less than four minutes.” It is roughly 10,000 times faster than the average household cable or DSL connection and has been tested by AT&T.
Goodbye DVD's, CD's. Hello streaming. |

I have Netflix streaming via my Samsung Bluray DVD player, but they don't stream anything other than 2.0 sound yet.
Until they stream comparable audio and video to mirror Bluray DVD's, portable media will be around for quite some time. |

I know companies like cablevision offer a higher speed cable connection today at a premium price. i think it's mostly geared toward business users. I would imagine that when this does become available it will cost big $$$.
But who would have guessed 10 years ago I would be paying $49 a month for internet service. Remember dial up and modems? Oh the speed. |

Trek, that's friggin' great!
Now that I think more about it, was it Spock who said what I quoted?
Today's technology is amazing.
This is just another example of how way ahead of it's time, now 44+ years, "Star Trek" was and is. |
